Safety & Regulatory Testing

Mobile Power Solutions specializes in guiding your company through today’s increasing quagmire of battery-related safety regulations. MPS provides comprehensive regulatory compliance, safety, and performance testing; we are A2LA accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005.

UN § 38.3 Testing
The U.S. Department of Transportation regulates shipment of lithium and lithium-ion cells and batteries. Shipping generally requires certification that the cells or batteries passed UN § 38.3 Testing. Tests include altitude simulation, thermal cycling, vibration, mechanical shock, external short-circuit, impact, overcharge and forced discharge. MPS has completed UN § 38.3 testing hundreds of times.

RTCA DO-227 and DO-311 Testing
The Federal Aviation Administration requires certification to DO-227 for lithium and DO-311 for lithium-ion cells and batteries installed on aircraft. Testing is witnessed by an FAA Designated Engineering Representative. MPS serves on the committee drafting the replacement to DO-311.
